Join Air Arabia as a General Accountant in Cairo!

Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa's first and largest low-cost carrier, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically minded General Accountant to join our finance team in Cairo. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who thrives on precision, enjoys digging into numbers, and wants to contribute to the financial health of a dynamic, growing airline.

Your Purpose: Guardian of Financial Accuracy

In this role, you will be at the heart of our financial operations—analyzing, processing, and maintaining the company's financial transactions and records. You'll ensure everything we do aligns with approved accounting standards and internal procedures while supporting budget preparation, financial reporting, and coordination with external partners like banks, auditors, and suppliers. Your work will directly contribute to keeping our financial operations smooth, compliant, and efficient.

    What You'll Be Responsible For?

As our General Accountant, your days will be varied and detail-focused. You will:

    • Safeguard financial security by auditing documents, ensuring every transaction follows our policies, and promptly flagging any discrepancies to your manager.
    • Maintain impeccable accuracy in all financial entries within our SAGE X3 system, ensuring they align with established financial dimensions.
    • Take ownership of fuel vendor invoices and queries—posting them accurately, resolving issues with other departments, and ensuring timely payments without delay.
    • Handle Debit Notes and Credit Notes for assigned accounts, posting them correctly to the right cost elements in SAGE X3.
    • Monitor fuel price notifications from suppliers, verify them against contractual terms, and flag any discrepancies to management while ensuring system prices are current.
    • Oversee activities with outsourced service providers, ensuring invoices are posted on time and maintaining clear communication of procedural manuals.
    • Track Bank Guarantees from fuel suppliers, ensuring timely renewals in line with company procedures.
    • Reconcile financial discrepancies by analyzing account information, including monthly supplier balance reconciliations.
    • Review fuel-related cost accounts before monthly and annual closings, compiling all necessary information.
    • Collaborate with departments to review non-technical costs, identify reduction opportunities, and support budget preparation.
    • Prepare special financial reports, including MIS Reports, by analyzing account trends and summarizing key information.
    • Coordinate with external auditors, providing schedules and information to facilitate smooth inspections.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information and supplier data.
    • Stay current in your field through professional development and contribute to team success by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

What You Bring to the Role?

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or equivalent from a recognized university.
    • A professional accounting qualification (such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA) is a definite advantage.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office—particularly Advanced Excel—along with Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Fluency in English is essential.
    • At least 3 years of comprehensive accounting or corporate finance experience, ideally within a regional or multinational company.
    • Background in the airline, travel, or tourism industry is highly preferred—low-cost carrier experience is an extra plus.
    • Solid understanding of the full accounting cycle, process flows, and procedures, with strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals and systems such as SFAS.
    • Strong mathematical and numerical reasoning skills with exceptional attention to accuracy.
    • Familiarity with internal and external audit processes and requirements.
    • Experience in a computerized accounting environment is essential, with exposure to financial modeling and new industry technologies.
    • Excellent financial, analytical, and reporting skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
    • Sharp attention to detail, a commitment to confidentiality, and the ability to work within established procedures.
    • Cost-conscious mindset with effective negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
    • Capacity to balance technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills when interacting with senior stakeholders and external partners.
